Halsey and Evanescence’s Amy Lee Unveil Collaborative Single “Hand That Feeds”

Halsey and Amy Lee, the evocative voice of Evanescence, have joined forces to release their stirring new single, “Hand That Feeds.” The track is set to grace the soundtrack of From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, a cinematic extension of the beloved John Wick universe.

The duo announced their collaboration on May 6, a mere three days before the song’s premiere. Halsey, a longtime admirer of Evanescence, has never hidden her reverence for Amy Lee’s artistry. In 2024, she channeled this admiration into her album The Great Impersonator, where she embodied the personas of various iconic artists, including Lee. Halsey confessed she was “over the moon” to work with her idol. Lee, in turn, revealed that the two have long shared a mutual appreciation for each other’s work. The single was brought to life under the deft hand of producer Jordan Fish, formerly the keyboardist for Bring Me The Horizon, who parted ways with the band in 2023.

Both Halsey and Evanescence have been musically active this year. In February, Halsey dropped “Safeword,” a punchy, punk-infused single. Meanwhile, Evanescence unveiled “Afterlife” in March, a track featured in the soundtrack for Netflix’s animated series Devil May Cry, inspired by the iconic video game. Evanescence’s most recent album, The Bitter Truth, hit shelves in March 2021. The band is currently hard at work on new material, though details about their next record’s title or release date remain under wraps.

The film Ballerina is slated to hit theaters on June 5, with Ana de Armas in the starring role as Eve Macarro, a ballerina-turned-assassin. Her character briefly appeared in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019), performing on stage during a pivotal exchange between John Wick (Keanu Reeves) and The Director (Anjelica Huston). The events of Ballerina unfold concurrently with that third installment, weaving a new thread into the intricate tapestry of the John Wick saga.
