Robert De Niro to Star in Adaptation of The Whisper Man
Robert De Niro ("Killers of the Flower Moon") has been cast in the thriller "The Whisper Man." Netflix is producing.
The plot is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Alex North. The original story tells of Tom Kennedy, who decides that a new city will help him and his son cope with the death of his wife and mother. The heroes move to Featherbank, but soon it turns out that this city keeps dark secrets. Twenty years ago, a serial killer nicknamed the Whisperer operated there, luring his victims with an ominous whisper outside their windows. The maniac was caught, and the residents breathed a sigh of relief.
But as soon as Tom and Jake settle into their new home, a boy disappears again in the city. Everything indicates that the Whisperer's crimes may be repeated, which means that he may have had an accomplice. The police have to investigate the case before it's too late. Meanwhile, Jake begins to behave strangely. He hears something at night. Or someone ...
James Ashcroft ("A Violent Haven") will direct, and Chase Palmer ("It") and Ben Jacoby ("The First Omen") are in charge of adapting the screenplay. The Russo brothers are producing the project. Production is scheduled to begin this spring.
