Honest John - Sweet Travels
Since its inception in 2012, Honest John has been the brainchild of reedplayer and composer Klaus Ellerhusen Holm. The band has always had a penchant for slightly weird and unusual music and has no problems going against the current. Inspiration from the Dutch jazz scene and musicians associated with the ICP orchestra have previously been important sources of inspiration, but now the music stands confidently on its own and is mostly like itself.
On our fourth album, we bring in, among other things, elements of microtonality, vintage drum machine from 1969, as well as the fact that many of the songs are built around asymmetrical repetition. Things are repeated, but never to the same length. Otherwise, the music is developed in close collaboration with the musicians and built around their musical personalities.
Honest John is now releasing their fourth album Sweet Travels. This time on the Norwegian label Particular Recordings Collective in Trondheim. Recording began in 2020, but has been pushed back several times due to both the pandemic and other unforeseen problems. But now the album is finally ready! They have also printed handmade lithography’s by the Danish artist Zven Baslev in addition to CDs as a physical format.
