KSV pump

KSV pump

In modern thermal power plants, a large variety of pumps are operated. The pumps directly operating within the thermal scheme of a thermal power plant, by purpose, nature of operation, type of liquid being pumped, and parameters, form a group of power pumps.

Power pumps are divided, depending on their purpose, into feed pumps, condensate pumps, network pumps, etc. Let's consider the group of condensate pumps.

The main parameters of condensate pumps are regulated by GOST 6000-88. Depending on the parameters, they have a uniform and largely standardized design.

All produced condensate pumps can be grouped into several structurally similar groups - Ks, KsD, KsV. Within each group, pumps have many common design features and solutions with minor differences in the construction of individual components.

Let's consider the group of KsV pump type condensate pumps. This is a group of vertically designed condensate pumps.

Vertical design not only saves space but also provides the most possible support conditions and the most favorable cavitation conditions, as the first-stage impeller is located at the lowest point of the ksv pump. In addition, this layout allows for the elimination of shaft sealing and external bearings on the suction side, replacing them with an internal bearing operating on the pumped liquid.

Purpose

KsV type condensate pumps and pump units based on them are designed for supplying condensate from stationary steam turbines, condensate from steam-heating apparatuses of thermal power plants, as well as clean water with a temperature of up to 140 °C in heating and water supply systems, and in metallurgy.

Pumps are manufactured in climate version UHL - designed for macroclimatic regions with moderate and cold climates, category of location 4 - operation in premises (volumes) with artificially regulated climatic conditions according to GOST 15150-69.

Design features

KsV type condensate pumps are centrifugal, vertically designed, with a two-case construction with a removable internal section-type casing, single- or multi-stage, with a one-sided arrangement of impellers. The first stage is of special design depending on the flow rate and rotational frequency: a two-sided inlet impeller, a screw-centrifugal stage with a single-sided or two-sided inlet impeller. The basic component of the pump is the outer casing, which is a welded construction. Inlet and outlet nozzles are welded to the outer casing, horizontally located in opposite directions (upon the Customer's request, a variant in one direction is possible). The inner casing (removable part) is a separate assembly consisting of the following units: rotor, end seal, thrust bearing, and components: discharge cover, section housings with guide devices, feed to the first stage. The supports of the rotor are: lower - a sliding bearing for operation on the pumped medium; upper - an external thrust bearing made of two radial-thrust ball bearings with plastic or cartridge grease. Unloading of the rotor from axial forces is hydraulic using a hydraulic jack, unloading drum, or by applying symmetrical gap seals on the impeller. Shaft seals are mechanical with gland packing with supply of cooling and sealing liquid, which are interchangeable with mechanical end-face seals.

Materials of the main components of KsV type condensate pumps

  • outer casings, covers, sections, bearing housings - castings from gray cast iron СЧ200, forgings, and sheet metal from carbon steels;
  • components of the flow part (impeller, guide apparatus) - castings from gray cast iron СЧ200 or chrome steel 20Х13Л;
  • gap seal components - non-scuffing corrosion-resistant alloys;
  • shaft - grade rolled steel from structural alloy steel 40Х.

Completeness:

  • KsV type condensate pump in assembled form with a lantern for mounting the electric motor and auxiliary pipelines within the pump limits;
  • drive of the condensate pump - asynchronous three-phase electric motor with a squirrel-cage rotor;
  • connecting coupling - elastic bush-finger;
  • pump, motor, and coupling guard components;
  • set of control and measuring instruments;
  • set of spare parts;
  • operational documentation.
