Braico interview. Preso Male
From the Italian capital to the heart of Europe, the Roman rapper Braico is gaining more and more attention with his authentic and introspective style. His new single, "Preso Male", is a sincere tale of the emotional complexities and contradictions of modern living. In this exclusive interview for our magazine, Braico tells us about his journey, the challenges and the things that inspire him.
"Preso Male" is a very intense song. How did the idea for this song come and what does it represent for you?
It was born in a difficult period of my life and it means a lot to me, this song helped me a lot.
In the song you talk about loneliness and complicated relationships. How much of your lyrics are autobiographical?
I have suffered from loneliness and in this song I tell about myself, it seems that the message has arrived and I am happy about it.
You are an emerging artist with a well-defined musical identity. How would you describe your style to someone who doesn't know you?
I wouldn't say I have a predefined category, you can call it rap, pop, indie but I make music and tell something in my lyrics.
Do you have any particular musical influences or artists who have inspired your journey? If so, which ones?
When I was little I listened to a lot of Rap Gem, Madman, Bassi Maestro but also Babaman, passing through Reggae, in recent years I have started to appreciate Silent Bob a lot, I find him a very complete artist and I hope to collaborate with him in the future, maybe.
What does it mean to you to make music today, in an increasingly fast and digital world?
It means transmitting something, the world will become more and more digital and we must accept it and adapt over time.
"Preso Male" explores universal themes such as love and loneliness. How do you manage to turn personal experiences into messages that speak to everyone?
I try to talk about myself but transforming it into tales or even love stories like in "Preso Male".
What has been the biggest challenge you have faced so far in your musical career?
The biggest challenge was definitely finding the initial push to release because alone without any moral support I don't know if I would have released.
You have a growing audience. What is your relationship with your fans and how do you like to interact with them?
I hope to convey something to them, I try to leave a message in the lyrics.
Do you dream of performing outside of Italy? What would it mean to you to share your music in Ukraine?
It would mean a lot to me to have my music heard outside of Italy.
If you had to give advice to someone who wants to embark on a career in music, what would you say? And how do you imagine the future of your artistic journey?
I would say to always believe in it and never stop doing it. I hope that my music reaches as many people as possible and that I can do some concerts, maybe.
