The band commented: “‘The Siren’s Choice’ is a track we are particularly proud of. It has all the gloom-and-doom vibes that make us who we are, but also felt that we made a step forward when writing it. The playfulness of the guitar riffs with the samples was a pleasant surprise when we laid them together.”
This follows the release of a music video for the title track which premiered on The Obelisk and can be viewed here. The video serves as a powerful visual representation of the band's concept, contrasting the creations of man with the untamed instincts within us.
Formed in Athens in 2017, Church of the Sea have carved a distinct niche for themselves, balancing the crushing weight of doom with the ethereal beauty of dark electronic rock. Their signature sound blends fuzzed guitars, heavy distorted beats, and Irene's captivating, chant-like vocals, creating an atmosphere that is both heavy and dreamlike, with hints of shoegaze and noise-rock intensity.
“Eva,” the band's sophomore album, will be available on digital and CD formats, with a limited “sunburst” edition on vinyl. Pre-orders are available now.
The album was recorded at Suono Studios, engineered, produced, and mixed by Alex Bolpasis, and mastered by Nick Townsend at Infrasonic Mastering, continuing their established collaborative relationships from their debut EP “Anywhere but Desert” (2018) and debut album “Odalisque” (2022).
Throughout their career, Church of the Sea have graced the stages of numerous festivals and shared the bill with notable acts such as Antimatter, The Murder Capital, Messa, and Dool, including two sold-out performances at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Athens.
Ahead of the album’s release, Church of the Sea will perform as special guests to Wolvennest and ΛΑΜΔΑ on 22 March at AN Club in Athens, Greece. Tickets can be purchased here for the opportunity to witness Church of the Sea’s powerful live performance firsthand. Join the Facebook event.
