Stevie Nicks, the iconic voice of Fleetwood Mac, has announced a new solo album, her first in 14 years. The singer shared that she’s already crafted seven songs, each rooted in real-life stories from her past.

On April 16, Nicks attended the Pollstar Awards, where she was honored with a prestigious accolade. Addressing the audience, she opened up about her latest project. “I’m calling it a ‘ghostly’ record,” Nicks said, “because it all came together in just the last few weeks. I have seven songs, all autobiographical. They’re true stories, where I lay it all bare—perhaps for the first time. These aren’t fairy-tale songs where you’re left guessing who they’re about. They’re my memories, my truths, stories of extraordinary men.”

Nicks revealed that her friendship with Prince inspired much of the album. She recalled attending the 1984 premiere of Prince’s film Purple Rain. A scene involving a slap left her so incensed that she spent the rest of the screening in the bathroom. Later, she told Prince she admired only the first half of the film and offered him a necklace as a gift. Prince, however, brushed it off, saying he didn’t need her trinkets—implying that Nicks always brought him gifts but never truly shared herself. Nicks also plans to pen a track about Jimmy Iovine, her former partner and a titan in the music industry.

Her last solo release, 24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault (2014), wasn’t entirely new material but rather reimagined demos recorded between 1969 and 1987. Her most recent original work, In Your Dreams, dates back to 2011.

Meanwhile, Fleetwood Mac is working on a documentary for Apple, directed by Frank Marshall, known for producing Jurassic World (2015). In February, Business Insider hailed the band’s 1977 masterpiece Rumours as the greatest breakup album of all time.
