Andy Serkis’ Animal Farm Announces Star-Studded Voice Cast
The animated adaptation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm, directed by Andy Serkis, has unveiled its impressive voice cast, according to recent reports. The film, expected to debut on Netflix before the end of the year, brings fresh life to Orwell’s timeless allegory.
The ensemble lending their voices to the project includes Seth Rogen, Kieran Culkin, Woody Harrelson, Steve Buscemi, Glenn Close, Jim Parsons, Kathleen Turner, Gaten Matarazzo, Laverne Cox, Iman Vellani, and Serkis himself.
Published in 1945, Orwell’s Animal Farm tells the story of farm animals who overthrow their oppressive human masters, only to face a new tyranny when the pigs seize control. Through propaganda and the menace of ferocious guard dogs, the pigs reduce their fellow animals to servitude once more.
Serkis has been developing this project since 2011. The screenplay was adapted by Nick Stoller, known for The Muppets, with Matt Reeves, director of The Batman, serving as one of the producers. While an exact release date remains unconfirmed, this marks the third screen adaptation of Animal Farm, following versions in 1954 and 1999.
