Psy and Megan Thee Stallion to Star in a Musical Show for Apple TV+
Apple TV+ has announced a new music show called "KPopped." It will be hosted by Psy, known for the hit "Gangnam Style," and rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
The project consists of eight episodes. It features both Western stars and Korean idol singers. Here is what the description of "KPopped" says:
"In each episode, Western icons will reimagine one of their biggest hits together with top idols. There will be exciting battle performances. And viewers from Seoul will choose the winner with the best 'K-popped' song."
Megan Thee Stallion has already promised to sing her hit "Savage" on the show. Her name is also listed in the list of executive producers of "KPopped" - along with the name of Lionel Richie. This means that he may also take part in the project. This is not the first time Apple TV+ has turned to the topic of K-pop: in 2024, the documentary mini-series "K-Pop Idols" with Jay Park was released on the platform.
In June 2024, Megan Thee Stallion released the album "Megan," and in October she presented its sequel "Megan: Act II." RM from BTS and the group Twice took part in the recording of the second part of "Megan." In December, Twice's EP "Strategy" was released, where the rapper was noted in the title track. And back in 2021, Megan Thee Stallion took part in the recording of the "Butter" remix by BTS. So for her, K-pop is not a foreign territory. But the show "KPopped" is not the only project of Stallion in 2025, she is also going to release the third part of the record "Megan."
Psy's latest album to date, "Psy 9th," was released almost three years ago, in April 2022. Suga from BTS, Hwasa from Mamamoo, rappers Jessi and Heize, rapper Tablo, as well as singers Crush and Sung Si-kyung participated in its recording.
