Elton John Releases "Who Believes in Angels?" Track and Announces New Album
Elton John has released the song "Who Believes in Angels?," recorded with country star Brandi Carlile. The track will be featured on their new album of the same name, set to be released on April 4th.
The song was produced by Andrew Watt, who previously worked with Elton John on the album "The Lockdown Sessions" (2021) and the track "Never Too Late" from the documentary "Elton John: Never Too Late" (2024). Incidentally, "Never Too Late" will also appear on the new album and is eligible for an Oscar nomination for "Best Original Song." Bernie Taupin, Elton John's longtime collaborator, also co-wrote "Who Believes in Angels?".
Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Klinghoffer participated in the recording of the "Who Believes in Angels?" album. The record will also feature renowned session bassist Pino Palladino, who has worked with Adele, Nine Inch Nails, Tears For Fears, and other well-known musicians.
Prior to "Who Believes in Angels?," Elton John and Brandi Carlile recorded the track "Simple Things" together, which was included on the aforementioned album "The Lockdown Sessions" (2021). It was also produced by Andrew Watt. In the United States, Carlile is a well-known figure with 11 Grammy Awards, two of which she won recently in 2024. She is not only a performer but also a producer; Carlile contributed to Joni Mitchell's live album "Joni Mitchell at Newport" (2023). Her most recent work to date, "In These Silent Days," was released in 2021.
Since "The Lockdown Sessions," Elton John has collaborated with other artists on a few occasions. In 2022, the musician re-recorded the song "100% Endurance" by the rock band Yard Act, creating a new version of the track. In 2023, John participated in the recording of Dolly Parton's album "Rockstar," where they performed his hit "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" together.
